Am 25. und 26. Mai 2012 geht das ELBJAZZ Festival in die dritte Runde. In über 50 Konzerten an außergewöhnlichen Spielorten – vom alten Stückgutfrachter über ein Theater in der Speicherstadt, bis zum Werftgelände von Blohm + Voss – erobert das Festival neue Räume für den Jazz. Zwischen den einzelnen Bühnen pendeln Barkassen – eine ganz besondere Hafenrundfahrt und jede Menge Hafenflair ist bei ELBJAZZ also inklusive.
Mit der Mischung aus großartigen Stars und grandiosen Newcomern, internationalen Bands und Lokalmatadoren, öffnet sich das Festival einem breiten Publikum und begeistert Menschen für den Jazz. The Jazzanova collective belongs to a small, worldwide group of incredibly influential innovators of dancefloor, jazz, broken beat, funk and soul. Their signature sounds are one hundred percent guaranteed to take you on a trip, mixing and matching genres as wide ranging as the hip hop that remains their roots, Brazilian samba and ever the ever elegant and precise German techno. Their worldwide travel only ensures the diversity of this palette, and with the implementation of a live band to augment their sound you are sure to be treated to something very special indeed.
Our all-time favourite funky, forward-thinking, experimental hip-hop collective The Herbaliser make a welcome return to form with their full 10-piece band in anticipation of a brand new album out very soon. Founded by Ollie Teeba and Jake Wherry during the 90s, the Herbaliser have been responsible for some of the most memorable releases during Ninja Tune's early years. Their unique fusion of Jazz and Hip Hop is best experienced when seen live, and in Koko's beautiful surroundings this promises to be a very special set full of good vibes, lush instrumentation and plenty of colourful sounds!
